Zimbo Grapevine
Privacy notice
What we collect, why, and your rights under UK data protection law.
Who we are. TAFUMA LIMITED publishes Zimbo Grapevine and is the data controller for this site. Contact: dtafuma@gmail.com.
What we collect. We do not run accounts, advertising trackers or analytics cookies. Our hosting provider (Netlify) keeps short-term server logs, which can include your IP address and browser details, to deliver and secure the site. If you email us, we keep your message and email address so we can reply.
Comments. If you comment on a story, the comment form collects the name you give and your comment. It does not ask for your email address. We store these with the story and the time you posted, on our hosting provider (Netlify). To limit spam, we also keep a keyed hash of your IP address (not the address itself) with the times of your recent comments. Every comment is moderated: we read it first, and it appears on the site only once we approve it. Approved comments show your name, the date and your comment publicly. We remove any comment on request: email us with the story and the name you used. See our comments policy.
Newsletter. Our newsletter runs on Beehiiv, which handles sign-ups and sending for us. The sign-up form collects your email address only. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email. Beehiiv has its own privacy policy.
Why. We rely on our legitimate interests in running a secure website, answering correspondence and running a moderated comments section. For the newsletter, we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw by unsubscribing. We do not sell personal data.
How long. We keep emails for as long as needed to deal with them, and no longer than two years unless they relate to a correction or legal matter. We keep comments while the story is online, unless you ask us to remove them. We keep your newsletter email address until you unsubscribe.
Your rights. Under the UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email us to do so. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
