Zimbabwe were bowled out for 136 chasing 295 in Abu Dhabi on Monday, losing to Afghanistan by 158 runs in the second match of the UAE ODI tri-series.
Afghanistan chose to bat and made 294 all out. Sediqullah Atal scored 102 and Ibrahim Zadran 90, ESPNcricinfo and the Afghanistan Cricket Board report. Ernest Masuku took 3 for 44 and Brad Evans 3 for 48 for Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe's reply never got going. They lost early wickets to Fazalhaq Farooqi (2 for 15) and were all out in 38.4 overs. Sikandar Raza top-scored with 48 and Brian Bennett made 31. Rashid Khan took 4 for 17. ESPNcricinfo called it Afghanistan's fourth-biggest ODI win.
What it means for the final
ESPNcricinfo says Zimbabwe would have reached the final if they had made 196. Falling 60 short of that leaves their place in Afghanistan's hands: Afghanistan play Bangladesh on Wednesday, the ACB says. Zimbabwe beat Bangladesh in the series opener.
Speaking for the team in the absence of captain Raza, Brendan Taylor said after the match that Zimbabwe had been "totally outperformed" on a pitch that was "pretty docile". "It's probably a day where we can draw a line in the sand and put this one behind us, take the lessons from it and try and turn it around as quickly as possible," he said, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.
Since then: Zimbabwe reach the final
Afghanistan beat Bangladesh by seven wickets in Sharjah on Wednesday 21 October, bowling them out for 160 and reaching the target with 87 balls to spare, ESPNcricinfo and BBC Sport report. That result knocked Bangladesh out and put Zimbabwe into Friday's final against Afghanistan in Sharjah, with play due to start at 12:30 BST, according to both outlets.
Zimbabwe finished the group stage second on the ESPNcricinfo table, with one win from two matches. Their win over Bangladesh in the opener was by 99 runs, ESPNcricinfo and BBC Sport report.
The same two sides then play three T20 internationals and two Tests in Sharjah between 27 October and 17 November, BBC Sport says.
Lady Chevrons in action tonight

India lead the series 2-0 after a nine-wicket win on Sunday, Akashvani News reports. It is the first bilateral women's series between the two countries, and three one-day internationals follow in Vadodara on 23, 25 and 28 October.
